Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Branislav Nedimovic pointed out on Monday, September 12, in his talk with the Italian ambassador to Belgrade, Giuseppe Manzo, that there was a possibility of increasing investments in the agriculture and food industry of Serbia and that the government would create a legal framework to support it.

As it was reported after the meeting, the mutual assessment is that the agricultural and food industry is one of the most important and most promising sectors in the Serbian economy.

Nedimovic said that investments in fruit and vegetable growing, manufacturing industry and meat and milk industry were the priority for his ministry to work on in the period ahead, by developing measures regarding corporate loans and subsidies.

Removing non-tariff barriers in the veterinary and phytosanitary areas will also be encompassed by the cooperation between representatives of the Embassy of Italy and the competent ministry departments to the end of increasing the scope of trade between the two countries, the report says.
