Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy Aleksandar Vulin stated on Monday, July 25, that there had been irregularities in the companies Yura and Geox and that the state would fight each violation of the law, no matter who the perpetrator is.

Vulin said for RTS that Yura had gifted cars to the Labor Inspectorate in 2013 and that he couldn't speculate on the motives thereof because it had been done before his mandate as the minister, but that the law was in effect during in his mandate.

According to him, the company has had numerous inspections in the past two years since it came to Serbia and they have mostly been carried out based on employees and former employees' reports.

– We can't help those who are no longer employees. There have been irregularities in Yura, they have been corrected, and they have even been penalized for them – Vulin said and added that Geox had also been inspected due to reports by the production workers, since the employee had organized overtime labor outside the boundaries prescribed by the law.

The company has, according to him, paid the workers for it, but the Ministry has warned them that overtime work must be organized in accordance with the law.

– We will surely make new inspections, this is what we can and will do – Vulin said.

In six years in which the South Korean company Yura has been operating in Serbia, dozens of inspections have been carried out in factories in Nis, Raca and Leskovac, and the reports by the Ministry of Labor cite 26 employee complaints, but also that there has been only one case of a worker referring to the inspection while he was working at Yura.
