Average net salary in May RSD 43,951
The average gross salary in May was RSD 60, 520, which is 10.3% less in nominal terms, and 10.4% less in real terms relative to April.
The decrease of salaries in May relative to the previous month is the result of the fact that, at the end of April, due to Easter and Labor Day holidays, salaries were paid that otherwise would have been paid at the beginning of May.
In addition to that, bonuses for the first quarter of 2016 were paid in April, which also influenced the decrease of salaries paid in May, explains SORS.
As the announcement adds, the average gross salary in May increased by 0.1% in nominal terms, and by 0.6% in real terms relative to the May 2015. At the same time, the net salary paid in May was nominally at the same level and 0.7% smaller in real terms relative to May 2015.
In the January-May period of 2016, both the gross and the net salary increased by 4.3% in nominal terms and by 3.2% in real terms relative to average salaries in the same period in 2015.
