"Address code" to be introduced - "Pošta Srbije" introduces new method for addressing parcels

- Company "Pošta Srbije" is going to introduce "address code" – the new way of addressing postal parcels for the sake of creation of conditions for mechanical classification of letters and parcels - said Manager of the sector for delivery of postal parcels in that company, Đorđe Zagorac.

He said that, in addition to existing address elements (name, street and number, postal code, city), “address code“ would also be introduced and it would represent unique code for the address of every physical and juristic person on the territory of Serbia.

Zagorac added that all interested institutions and individuals could get all information on coded address on the phone number 0700-100-300, on web site www.posta.co.yu, and in every post office.

This method will enable description and identification of every part of Serbia with six digits. Each unit will encompass certain number of people for the sake of higher precision in the process of defining the territory. “The six-digit address code will reach the level of part of a street, while in certain cases, in densely populated parts of the territory, it will even define individual object“, he said.
