PUE Elektroprivreda Srbije and Siemens Belgrade have signed an agreement on building a transformer station (TS) “Beograd 23 – Autokomanda” worth Eur 7.7 mil.

The agreement on building this TS which will secure stable and reliable electrical energy supply to the central part of Belgrade municipality of Vozdovac has been signed by acting manager of EPS Milorad Grcic and general manager of Siemens Belgrade Udo Eichlinger.

The TS will have 3,945 m2 of surface and three floors with accompanying business objects, and the construction deadline is two years.

Grcic said, after having signed the agreement, that the construction of TS “Beograd 23 – Autokomanda”, which had been expected for years, was important not just for the distribution system, but for the entire infrastructure of Belgrade, because the construction of such objects created the conditions for a faster development of the Serbian capital and raised the quality of services to existing buyers.

- EPS’s priority is to modernize the system, improve the efficiency and raise the quality of distribution services, which is why each such agreement and each investment guarantees that EPS can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with regional and European companies – said Grcic.

According to him, the new substation is important because it relieves the existing electrical energy network and ensures stable supply to the part of Belgrade where many embassies, residential blocks, two large football stadiums and Prokop railway station are located, and it also creates conditions for the securing of energy stability for the realization of Belgrade Waterfront project.

He announced that EPS would start similar projects in the next two years.

Eichlinger said that Siemens had for many years been cooperating successfully with EPS on projects which contributed to the increase in reliability of electrical power supplying in Belgrade and imporved the quality of living.

- Siemens is proud to be part of EPS’s vision for securing a reliable, modern energy system – he said.

According to him, EPS will get from Siemens high and medium voltage equipment, a control system and protective relays of the latest generation.
