The first deputy director of the Russian railway firm RZD International, Mansurbek Sultanov, said Monday (2 May 2016) that all 27 new diesel trains from Russia would be delivered to Serbia by early 2017, adding that ten of those trains had already arrived in our country.
- It is all in line with the contractual deadline from the Annex 5 to the basic agreement on the Russian loan - Sultanov told Tanjug news agency.
He noted that 10 trains had already been delivered, adding that two more would soon arrive in Serbia. Sultanov underlined that the value of the procurement of 27 diesel trains was around USD 100 million.
Serbia buys these trains from Russia's Metrovagonmas thanks to the proceeds of the Russian loan of USD 800 million.
Few years ago, Serbia purchased 12 new Russian trains from that same company - Metrovagonmas, but that transaction was closed using the proceeds of another loan that had been granted by the railroad bank Eurofima.
