New Fiat model would guarantee work for employees in Kragujevac - Italians to redesign 500l

The minister of economy, Zeljko Sertic, said on Sunday in Kragujevac that they have been discussing with the the representatives of Fiat possibility of new model production but that the company is currently redesigning an existing car model.

- On that basis, they will try to achieve certain business results with which we agree, but we have been discussing with them intensively and it would really be great to provide another model potentially in the future – Sertic said.

According to him, it would mean "a number of years of constant operations and business of Fiat”, as well as the option" of keeping” all the staff at Kragujevac-based company, its suppliers so that everyone would be provided with long-term business.

He said that there are occasional production halts at Kragujevac-based FCA Srbija because, as he said, "the market stops sometimes".

- Fiat is only one of the companies in the world which has its cycles and every car model has its ups and downs, and we are currently in the middle section where there is not always full production capacity since the market stops sometimes and production halt happens – Sertic said.

Sertic added these delays have been planned discussed with the unions and the Government of Serbia is also familiar with it.
