The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has signed a mandate letter to give consent for long-term financing of infrastructure development and procurement of containers and trash collecting vehicles in Kragujevac, the City of Kragujevac announced in a release.

According to Vladimir Maksimovic, a member of the City Council for Environmental Protection, Balanced and Sustainable Development, final agreement is expected to be signed in December. Then the city will be able to draw the first tranche of EUR 10 million, EUR 2.5 million of which will be used to procure trucks and containers for the public utility company Cistoca (City Sanitation Department), while the remaining EUR 7.5 million will be spent on the construction and reconstruction of streets.

The second tranche of EUR 5 million will be drawn in 2016. This money will be used to finance the construction of new bus station in Kragujevac.

With the procurement of 15 garbage trucks and 2,000 containers, Kragujevac will finally be able to solve a years-long problem of trash collection and disposal, which is currently one of the priorities in the city because Cistoca has insufficient number of trash collecting vehicles.
