City Manager Goran Vesic said Wednesday (7 October 2015) that Belgrade had become the most attractive investment destination in this part of Europe, underlining that investors were most pleased to hear we had readymade projects as well as legislative and regulatory frameworks to support their actions, Beoinfo reports.

After the 16th international conference Prodexpo, which he and Greek Deputy Finance Minister Trifon Alexiadis opened together, Vesic told Tanjug news agency that he also said to investors that the City Management in Belgrade would always be there for them and help them solve all possible problems.

As he noted, in addition to Belgrade Waterfront, which is a big project and is situated on the Sava River, the Makisko Polje (Makis Field) project in the vicinity of the Sava River and the Block 18 project in New Belgrade, across the river from Belgrade Waterfront, were presented to investors too.

– We showed them all the possible directions of expansion of Belgrade on the left bank of the Danube River, from Pupin Bridge to Pancevo Bridge, which is a huge space that is completely unused, as well as Ada Huja projects on the right bank of the Danube, in the area stretching from Pancevo Bridge to Ada Huja. We also presented some other interesting projects to them. This was the first important message - said Vesic.

According to him, the second important message was to show to prospective investors that Belgrade has a good framework for investments thanks to the Law on and Planning and Development and the Labor Law. The number of issued building permits grew over 35% from before the Law on Planning and Development came into effect six months ago.

– It is now very easy to obtain building permits and it takes 28 days to finish the procedure - the city manager said and underlined that all that showed investors were welcome in Belgrade.
