Company "Knauf" in Surdulica invests 16m EUR in modernization of production unit and environment protection
Company "Knauf" started broadening its production capacities and investing in the environment protection in its factory in Surdulica. The value of the investment is 16m EUR. Installation of the filters that will prevent emission of harmful exhaust gases has been completed in the factory, although these exhaust gases have never been above the allowed limits.
According to the words of Robert Rupnik, the Executive Manager, the installation of the new cupola furnace is in progress, and the new production unit is also being built. The new cupola furnace is ecological unit that increases capacities and quality of the products.
Slavoljub Stajković, the Head Executive Manager of "Knauf" in Surdulica, says that the waste material from the factory is being recycled and used for production of briquettes for paneling, and the dump where the waste used to be disposed is now planted with grass.
