Russian veterinary and phytosanitary service, Rosselkhoznadzor, could put a ban on meat import from Montenegro to Russia due to re-export of European products, the head of veterinary service, Sergey Dankvert who compared the meat delivery situation from Montenegro with the situation in Moldova, said for Ria novosti agency.

- The similar situation is with Montenegro as well. They were afraid to export meat to Russia so they were exporting to Belarus. Therefore, we banned deliveries of finished meat products from Montenegro and allowed only half export. According to our findings, they were exporting the Dutch pork to Belarus. If they continue with violation when it comes to permits, we will impose full ban on import- Dankvert said.

As the assistant head of Rosselkhoznadzor, Alexey Alexienko, said that during past 10 days as of the moment of start of meat deliveries from Montenegro, Russian veterinary service has already spotted potential re-exporting cases from EU.

- Obviously, some companies in Montenegro realized the permit for export as a chance to earn a lot and started offering us illegal products. Decision on ban can be made as soon as possible and it will depend on the reply of Montenegrin veterinary service – Alexeyenko added.

Inspectors of Rosselkhoznadzor, according to the information on the service site, controlled the meat in Montenegro this month and October 13 three Montenegrin companies got permits to export.

The department then decided not to aloe import of finished meat products to Russia and to put temporary ban for six companies.
