Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria may submit joint bid to host Eurobasket 2017

The year 2017 is still far away, but that is the year when Serbia may host Europe's best basketball players and national teams. People at the Basketball Association of Serbia confirmed that they had spoken with representatives of the Macedonian and Bulgarian basketball associations about joint organization of the European Basketball Championship in 2017, adding that the final agreement had not been reached.

The media in Macedonia announced that a joint application was already ready to be submitted, but people at the Basketball Association of Serbia told that they had only talked about that option.

The Basketball Association of Serbia has some experience in organizing the Old Continent's basketball championship since it already hosted EuroBasket 2005.

Macedonians made it to the basketball map by achieving a phenomenal result at the European Championship in Lithuania this summer, but that was not enough for them to get to host a qualification tournament for the Olympics in London, which will be hosted by Venezuela.

The host of EuroBasket 2013 will be Slovenia, while Ukraine will host that championship two years later since France, Italy, Germany and Croatia have withdrawn their joint bid.
