The Stefan Nemanja memorial complex will be raised on the corner of the Kneza Milosa Street and the Nemanjina Street, on the site where a part of the Ministry of Defense building used to be located. The building was demolished during the NATO bombing of 1999.
Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic presided over the session of the Board for raising the Stefan Nemanja memorial complex, where the decision was made to open an international contest for the complex, the website of the Government of Serbia reports.
The decision also defines the monetary prizes of RSD 6,000,000 (first prize), RSD 3,000,000 (second prize) and RSD 2,000,000 (third prize), whereas all the other participants will receive RSD 100,000.
The participants will be enabled to propose solutions envisaging the preservation of the old building of the Ministry of Defense, authored by architect Nikola Dobrovic, within the new memorial complex.
A committee was formed at the session whose task is to prepare the international contest, which the Government of Serbia is to open this May. The committee is headed by Nikola Selakovic and includes academy members Ljubomir Maksimovic and Svetomir Arsic Basara.
