The Chinese company Shandong Hi-Speed Group, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the PE Corridors of Serbia have signed the agreement, worth EUR 337 million, on the construction of the road from Pozarevac to Golubac, the government announced.

The commercial agreements on the designing and the execution of works on the construction of the fast route section from the Pozarevac interchange on the Belgrade-Nis highway to Golubac and Veliko Gradiste were signed at the Presidency of Serbia.

The signing was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who pointed out that the agreement was signed after many months of the preparation of the preliminary project and the struggle to have the price of the construction of the road, nearly 70 kilometers long, be as low as possible.

He specified that the value of the works was EUR 337 million and that the works would be completed in November 2024. Vucic pointed out that, three years from then, a trip between Belgrade and Gradiste would take an hour, whereas a trip to Golubac would take an hour and 15 minutes.

According to him, the road will not go along the Danube coast. Instead, it will be shortened between Veliko Gradiste and Golubac and go through the neglected places where few people still live.

The deputy director at Shandong Hi-Speed Group, Xin Meng, said that he was honored that they would work on the project of construction of the high-speed route on the Danube main route.

– I promise that our company will continue having a professional approach to our job, using the technical advantages and thereby contributing to the strengthening of the infrastructure in Serbia - he said.

Meng reminded that the company successfully completed the Obrenovac-Ljig section on the Milos Veliki highway in 2019 and that the works on the Valjevo-Lajkovac high-speed route started in 2020.
