LONCAR: Tender for procurement of CyberKnife to be completed in October

Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar said that the tender for the procurement of the latest version of the CyberKnife, used to treat the tumors of the chest, the abdomen and the spine, would be completed in October.

– I hope that, after the tender, all the works would be finished by next spring, after which the device would be put into operation. Health insurance beneficiaries will thereby be provided with modern treatment without the need for additional payments – Loncar emphasized.

According to him, the CyberKnife costs around EUR 6 million, including the equipment, the accompanying facilities and staff training, and accelerators and additional devices are worth around USD 18 million. When buying new equipment, a minister has to adhere to the rule of the lowest possible price in Europe at the moment, Tanjug reports.
