CRBC submits least expensive offer for Peljesac Bridge – Chinese asking for EUR 278 million for construction
The work have been estimated at HRK 1.756 billion (EUR 235 million) by the procuring entity, Hrvatske Ceste, and the offers far exceed the estimated value.
Astaldi offered to perform the works for HRK 2.5 billion without VAT (EUR 334 million), Strabag's offer amounts to HRK 2.6 billion without VAT (EUR 347 million), whereas CBRC offered HRK 2.08 billion without VAT (EUR 278 million).
If the Chinese consortium were selected, it would be the first big job for one of the Chinese corporations in Croatia. CRBS is a subsidiary of the China Communications Construction Company, which is state owned and has annual revenues of nearly USD 55 billion.
CRBC has rich experience in bridge construction, including those much longer than the Peljesac Bridge. The company built the Donghai Bridge in China (32 km), Hangzhou Bay Bridge (35 km) and Jintang (26 km).
The contract for the 2.4-km Peljesac Bridge might be signed by the end of the year. The deadline for the completion of the works is 3.5 years within the signing of the contract.
