Serbia to open cultural center in Beijing in 2017 – Agreement to be signed in October
– In addition to the Cultural Center in Paris, opened in the late 1970s, Serbia will open its second cultural center in the world in the zone 798, the cultural center of contemporary art in China and beyond – Vukosavljevic said on Wednesday, September 13, 2017.
The minister assessed that it would be an extraordinary event, confirming the results of a healthy and reasonable cultural policy.
– Beijing is becoming the cultural capital of the world and Serbia deserves to open its cultural center there, which will provide an opportunity for a large number of creative people from Serbia to test themselves in a globally important and influential art center – the minister said and added that the agreement on the opening of the cultural center would be signed in the second half of October.
According to Vukosavljevic’s expectations, the enormous space provided by the 798 zone, which encompasses around 500 galleries, exhibition spaces and cultural centers of the countries from and outside of Europe, will in a few years become the biggest, strongest and most influential cultural zone in the world.
He reminded that the strategy of the development of cultural policy envisages the opening of several cultural centers in the world – in Beijing, Moscow and Berlin and later in Brussels, Chicago and Washington as well.
