The Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services (SMATSA) will open a tender for an upgrade of the air navigation system, the EBRD website reports.

As the website states, the SMATSA intends to use the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) to fund the project, which has been estimated at EUR 74.15 million.

The proposed project entails works on the construction of an annex to the existing air traffic control center in Belgrade, the construction of a new control tower at the Belgrade Airport, as well as the construction of a new air traffic control tower at the Nis Airport.

The tendering is expected to start in the fourth quarter of the current year and will be open for companies from any country, says the EBRD website.

Let us remind that the SMATSA announced earlier this month that it planned to start building a new, 75-m tower at the Nikola Tesla Airport in 2018.
