Finding a strategic partner for reconstruction remains one of the main goals for Sava Centar, which has become a part of the development strategy for the 2017-2021 period, adopted at the latest session of the City Assembly of Belgrade.

With the help of a partner, but also with money from the EU funds, the company intends to renew the Great Hall as well in the next four years. In order to make additional income, they plan to perform additional activities for which the PE Sava Centar is already registered.

As stated in the strategy's document, in order to position itself as a modern congress, cultural and business center in the region, the facility needs to be reconstructed, and the investment has been estimated at EUR 13,413,728. The Great Hall is one of the primary items on the reconstruction list, and the works will cost around a million euros.

– The seats in the Great Hall are 37 years old, and only regular maintenance has been carried out in the past years, so the seats need to be either repaired or fully replaced. The reconstruction of the stage and the procurement of orchestra chairs are also planned. Furthermore, there will be work on arranging individual or group dressing rooms with a makeup room. The plan also includes the reconstruction of the summer garden in the form of a prefab structure, which would provide a new multifunction area for exhibits, fairs and concerts – says the document.

Aside from investments in infrastructure, Sava Centar might get new sources of finance as well. The preparations for establishing a printing facility within the company should be completed by the end of the year.

– Technical modernization of the printing facility for the purpose of performing additional activities should be carried out. Printing might contribute additional income next year. Following the reconstruction, the tour operator activities will also be able to start. Workers need to be hired to perform these jobs and contracts need to be signed with airlines, hotels and other facilities – the document says.

As stated in the plan, a drop in leasing office space has been recorded in the past years, with 71.5% being leased in late 2016.

– Following the reconstruction, it is realistic to expect that capacities might be 80% full by the end of 2018. If the trend continued, we would be leasing 95% of space by the end of 2021 – the plan states.
