Bulgarian Sopharma Trading is buying majority stake at Serbian wholesale pharmacy Lekovit

Sopharma Trading, the largest Bulgarian pharmaceutical company in terms of revenues, announced that it is planning to invest in the axquistion of a majority stake in Lekovit, the fastest growing wholesaler in Serbia in the last 3 years. The owner Lekovit, Dr. Dragan Petrovic will keep minority ownership share and will continue to contribute to further company development as General Manager, the Bulgarian company communicated in a statement.

As outlined, Sopharma Trading is a leader in the pharmaceutical sector and has diversified its business model over the last 10 years and transformed from a wholesale pharmacy which supplied hospitals and drug stores to an integrated healthcare sector operator. In the period from 2006 to 2016, the company managed to maintain constant growth and increase business revenues 5 times, as well as net profit 22 times.

- The purchase of majority stake was preceded by approval by the Commission for Protection of Competition of the Republic of Serbia.

Lekovit d.o.o. was set up in 1992 together with a pharmacy retail chain called FLOS.
