The European Union has extended for another year sanctions to Russia imposed in 2014 after the referendum decision of Crimea to merge with the Russian Federation.

New extension of EU sanctions should be effective until June 23, 2018, and will also refer to citizens and companies based in the EU, AP reports.

EU foreign ministers said in a joint statement stated that the 29-nation bloc "remains fully committed to implementing its policy of non-recognition of Russia's annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol."

Sanctions also refer to a ban on goods imports from Crimea and Sevastopol, European investment or real estate buying in Crimea, tourist services and exports of goods and technology companies in the Crimea.

Since March 2014, EU has imposed a number of restrictive measures to Moscow after annexation of Crimea to Russia.
