The Novi Sad-based company Petro Mont has developed a group of intelligent and energy independent PetroSOLAR products – smart bus stops, benches and totems powered by electrical energy from renewable energy sources through solar panels and, optionally, kinetic floor tiles.

Thanks to the implementation of green energy and energy independence, the simplicity of design and a wide range of functionality, which allows for the integration of numerous additional components depending on the investor's wishes, the installation of these solutions on any desired location within and outside the city is quick and simple. They can be found in parks, ski resorts, promenades, beaches, open parking lots or protected natural areas, like national parks.

The complete development of PetroSOLAR products has been carried out by a team of local engineers at Petro Mont, headed by Lazar Josanov, the author of the project. As he say for our portal, the idea was born out of need for a new product which would mean a step forward forward for the company.

The basis of a PetroSOLAR product is a totem which contains a solar panel, accompanying installation and additional elements, with the main purpose of providing users with free mobile phone recharging and, optionally, a WiFi signal, as well as providing advertising and tourist information about their current location or nearby attractions.

PetroSOLAR benches are extensions of totems, providing seating space connected to the totem, whereas PetroSOLAR bus stops also have a PetroSOLAR totem as its basis around which components comprising the bus stop (side and background elements, as well as a roof) are integrated.

(PetroSOLAR bus stop) – Depending on an investor's wishes and needs, side and background elements can be made of a number of various types of materials or as ad panels with integrated lighting, rotation systems for advertisements, and, depending on the location and the number of passengers and considering that the system is modular, stops can simply be made bigger or smaller in order to accommodate the number of passengers at the moment – Josanov says.

– As a special feature, these bus stops will have the ability to connect to a unique BUS STOP city system, which will be able to follow and provide information about bus lines, expected times of arrival, and there will also be an option of installing kinetic floor tiles. These tiles generate electric energy produced by the steps of the pedestrians walking by. The energy is then stored in batteries, so that it can be used for the stop's self-lighting and charging mobile phones and WiFi routers.

The production has not yet officially started and only the factory models for testing have been made so far, but an agreement was made with a partner from the EU, which provides solar panels, on the sale and distribution of PetroSOLAR products in this market.

– We are sure that the first contracts will be signed soon. Considering that the products are visually attractive, that they satisfy the constant need for internet access and additional electrical energy for mobile devices, and that they are powered by renewable energy sources, we are convinced that the products will become very attractive to both the local and the foreign market – Josanov points out and adds that the most experienced local welders will be working on the production of components, in accordance with the highest standards of the profession, harmonized with ISO 3834-2 standards.

In addition to improving the location's appearance through attractive and highly functional street furniture, application of green energy and reduction of the expenses of consumption of public electric energy, another key advantage of PetroSOLAR products is that they significantly influence the improvement of safety in areas within and outside the city. As our interviewee point out, this applies to traffic safety in particular, as the stops have their own lighting, which is important in out-of-city communities for children who travel, for example, and for stops outside the populated areas. It also applies to the fact that stops are powered by solar energy and that it requires no electrical cables.

The company Petro Mont has existed for 30 years now, and, in addition to its main activity of planning and mounting HVAC installations, they have been designing and installing steel constructions and steel locksmithery for years. For the third year in a row, they have been manufacturing classic bus stops for Subotica, and in 2016, they will produce and mount 60 classic bus stops in Belgrade as well.
