(Lake Palic) Through its development bank KfW, the Government of Germany is going to donate EUR 6.5 million to Subotica to solve the problems affecting the biodiversity of lakes Palic and Ludos, representatives of KfW and the local self-government announced Friday (27 November 2015) in Subotica.
As announced on that occasion, these funds will be used to build a sewerage system in Palic and connect it to the water treatment facility, thus preventing further pollution of lakes. The performance of the water filter will be improved to enhance the quality of water going to lakes by reducing the concentration of nitrogen and phosphorus in it.
An agreement on donation is expected to soon be officially signed. The next step is to draw plans, whereas the year 2017 will see the implementation of all the projects aimed at stopping furhter pollution of Lake Palic and its full recovery over a period of five years, by 2022.
